Neil Armstrong Has Left for another Planet.

26Aug12

I was born a good 20+ years after the immensely significant landing of Man on the moon. But that did not stop imagination from growing rampant and having day dreams of one day discovering planets with life and other spell binding things.

The death of Neil Armstrong just reminds me in the past 40 something years, we are yet to put another human on the surface of an alien planet. Perhaps the future generation will not meet a hero who had the courage and the ball busting guts to sit inside a metal body, subject to space’s extreme conditions and the sure possibility of not returning home. But Neil Armstrong was that man, who with Buzz Aldrin, not only landed on our moon, but also had the soul of a poet to say ‘One giant leap for mankind.’

I found this statement put out by the Armstrong family to be very touching:

For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink.
